
Chemistry Puzzle Game
The goal of this project was to use an AI no-code tool to build a chemistry-themed puzzle game that reinforces organic chemistry concepts for adult learners.
Context:
As part of my STEM education venture, Dynamic Catalysis, LLC, I wanted to build a lightweight, engaging way for adult learners to review chemistry concepts outside of a traditional study format. Rather than building a full app from scratch, I chose Lovable, an AI-powered no-code platform, to test how far I could get without traditional engineering resources.
Actions:
I iteratively prompted Lovable to build the core game mechanics and worked through the platform's limitations as they came up:
Designed a timed jigsaw puzzle mechanic with a lives system and increasing difficulty across levels
Added a chemistry quiz feature that gives players extra attempts for correct answers
Integrated Supabase to reliably serve custom chemistry images after stock image sourcing proved inconsistent
Added PostHog event tracking to monitor player engagement and behavior
Outcome:
Shipped a fully playable game with no traditional engineering support
Generated organic website visits and plays, validating interest in AI-built STEM learning tools
Documented the full build process, including prompts and dead ends, in a companion Medium article
